The Metro Nashville Southeast Police Precinct project is a new, $22 million dollar LEED-certified project having achieved GOLD level under the LEED v4 BD+C: New Construction rating system. The project was awarded 63 out of 110 points under LEED and is designed to provide police services to a significant population of the metro area.

Some of the LEED aspects that make this project significant include the following;

• Indoor Potable Water Use Reduction, by using high efficiency flush and flow plumbing fixtures: 29.57%
• Energy Cost Savings, by utilizing efficient building systems: Over 50% savings by utilizing an efficient geoexchange system for HVAC,  LED lighting,  and on-site Renewable Energy Production of a 100 kW solar array.
• Construction Waste Diverted from the Landfill: 89%.
• Materials: Focused on minimizing the impacts associated with the extraction, processing, transport, maintenance, and disposal of material to support a life-cycle approach to resource efficiency.
• Low-Emitting Materials were installed to reduce interior airborne VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds)
  • Flooring: 100% of products were third-party tested for VOC emissions.
  • Ceilings: 100% of products were third-party tested for VOC emissions.
  • Insulation: 90.74% of products were third-party tested VOC emissions.
  • Quality Views were achieved for 75.82% of the regularly occupied floor area. Views to the exterior allow occupants to see the surrounding landscape features as well as sense the passage of time.
  • Air Sample Testing was completed just prior to occupancy to test indoor air quality for common airborne particulates and VOCs.
